I was sitting at the front desk when the door opened and Merle Haggard walked in carrying a guitar case... I was at a loss for words. He said, "Hello , I'm Merle Haggard and I'm here to record, whats your name darling" I stuttered and told him my name, laughed and told him I knew who he was.. He laughed and shook my hand. We chatted for a few minutes about the studio and how many times he had recorded there. I led him back to Room B . He was there for several hours and made it a point to tell me goodbye and it was nice meeting me before he left. He asked if I was a musician and I told him more of a songwriter, but I did play guitar. He smiled , wished me luck and told me to never give up writing. That was the first and last time I saw him. I will always remember his kindness. His stardom did not make him uppity. He was a legend and a nice one at that.. Rest in Peace dear man. I'm glad I got to meet you.
